Frequently Asked Questions
Are the products compatible with Flash MX 2004?
Yes, the components are compatible with Flash MX 2004.
Are the components written in AS1 or AS2?
The components are written in AS1 (actionscript version 1).
If I code in AS2 and therefore need to publish as AS2, can I still use these AS1 components?
Yes, you can still use these AS1 components while publishing the movie as AS2. However, do take note that
(i) you will not be able to extend the components in AS2 style like you would with AS2 components; and
(ii) you will not be able to use any Macromedia's V2 architectured features with the components.
Are source codes included?
The components are written in AS1 and are uncompiled. Therefore, the source codes are included (accessible via the Library once you have an instance of the component in your document).
Do the components support tabbing (focus management)?
No, the components do not support tabbing (focus management).
Does the component X has feature Y?
Please refer to the description page(s) of the component(s) - if a certain feature is available, it would be specified, otherwise it would be safe to assume that the feature is not included. You are welcomed to submit feature requests at the forums, although we make no guarantee that we would implement every feature requested. If you are unsure if a certain feature is available, please kindly contact us for clarifications.
What happens after I make payment?
Once you complete the payment, the download instructions would be sent to the email address you used when making the transaction - please make sure you use a current/valid email address.
How do I install the components?
Our components are packaged using Macromedia
Extension Manager into a .mxp file. You may
install our components using the Macromedia
Extension Manager. The .mxp file format is
cross platform and allows you to install components
conveniently using Macromedia Extension Manager,
which is available for download from
http://www.macromedia.com/exchange/em_download/
Is there a Mac/PC version of the components?
Flash components can be used on any machine
that has the Flash MX software installed, and
therefore are not platform specific. The .mxp
file format itself is cross platform - the same
file downloaded can be used to install the components
on both Mac and PC machines.
I have installed the components and they
work fine when published, however while previewing
in Flash MX, the components do not work as expected.
What is happening?
The Flash MX authoring player needs to be updated:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/downloads.html
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/pr..._downloads.html
Our components use some features that require
the later versions of Flash. We believe that
the minimum Flash player required is 6,0,40,0
(since device fonts masking is available starting
from that version) but have found Flash player
6,0,65,0 is required for best overall performance
and security.
What is a Single-User/Multiple-User License?
Each purchase grants you a single-user single-machine
license. You need one license for each developer
using the components in your organization, including
temporary or freelance developers engaged by
the organization.
Where can I purchase Multiple-User Licenses?
Additional licenses may be purchased here. These discounted licenses are to be purchased only after you have purchased the first single-user license. Note that licenses are non-transferrable and multiple-user licenses are organization specific (only for use by developers within your own organization). You may not resell the licenses to developers outside of your organization.
Can I install the components in more than
one machine?
Note that each purchase grants you a single-user
single-machine license. However, you may install
the components simultaneously in up to two machines
if these are used exclusively by the same user,
as in the case of a desktop+laptop. If you
cannot guarantee that the machines would be
used exclusively by the same user, you should
purchase additional licenses.
What redistribution restrictions should I
take note of?
The licensing agreement clause (g) states that
you may not permit end users of your application
to redistribute the components. This only affects
developers who wish to develop applications
whereby the end users will be redistributing
the components. For example, you may not use
the components in Flash templates (which in
itself does not violate the license agreement
but the clause would render the templates useless
to your end users) or in applications that create
Flash websites or runtimes ("generated work")
which contains the components (once again, this
in itself does not violate the licensing agreement
but the clause would render the "generated work"
useless to your end users).
